Description
Amblygonite is a lithium sodium aluminium phosphate mineral with a hardness of 5.5 to 6. It is usually a pale yellow color, but is sometimes greenish yellow or lilac. Its crystal structure is triclinic and it is often found in association with other lithium-bearing minerals such as Apatite, Lepidolite, Kunzite and Tourmaline. It is a relatively rare material and is found primarily in Brazil, Burma and Maine in the USA. A small percentage of Amblygonite is transparent and can be faceted into gems.
